MELBOURNE - Jul 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough is moving over NSW from the west . A cold front within this trough will move through the state during Monday and Tuesday while a high pressure system lies to the southwest of WA. This high is expected to remain stationary for most of next week, with a series of additional cold fronts moving through New South Wales. This will result in cold windy weather with rain/showers/snow particularly about the southern ranges and adjacent inland. Forecast for the rest of SundayPatchy rain in the west and south tending scattered near Victorian border, with snow developing about the Alpine peaks. Northeast to northwest winds, strong to gale force about the Alpine peaks.Monday 4 JulyMostly sunny in the far west and northeast. Cloud extending eastwards over the remainder with rain periods over the remainder, more patchy in the north and more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow on the Alps. West to northwest winds, fresh and gusty in the west and southeast.Tuesday 5 JulyIsolated showers in the southern inland tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow, heavy at times, above about 1000 metres in the south and also on the higher parts of the Central Tablelands. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh to strong westerly winds tending gale force about the ranges.Wednesday 6 JulyScattered showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, more isolated on the adjacent districts. Snow, heavy at times, above about 900 metres in the south and also about the higher parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands. Mostly sunny remainder. Fresh to strong westerly winds, squally about the southern and central ranges.Thursday 7 JulyIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, tending scattered in the south with snow down to low levels at first.
