Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge over New South Wales is weakening as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will move through the state during Monday and Tuesday while a high pressure system lies to the southwest of WA. This high is expected to remain stationary for most of next week, with a series of additional cold fronts moving through New South Wales. This will result in cold windy weather with rain/showers/snow particularly about the southern ranges and adjacent inland.
Forecast for the rest of SundayLight rain developing in the west and southeast and tending scattered near Victorian border, with snow developing about the Alpine peaks. Areas of morning fog and frost. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northeast to northwest winds, strong to gale force about the Alpine peaks.Monday 4 JulyMostly sunny in the far west and partly cloudy near the coast. Patchy rain elsewhere tending more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow on the Alps. West to northwest winds, fresh and gusty in the west and southeast.Tuesday 5 JulyIsolated showers in the southeastern inland tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow above about 1000 metres in the south and also on the higher parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands. Mostly sunny elsewhere. fresh to strong westerly winds tending gale force about the ranges.Wednesday 6 JulyScattered showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, more isolated on the adjacent districts. Snow above about 1000 metres in the south and also about the higher parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands. Partly cloudy remainder. Fresh to strong westerly winds, squally about the southern and central ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDN10031
