Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New Zealand is slow moving and is weakening. A low pressure system over the Southern Ocean will move eastwards to be south of Adelaide by Sunday night, while an associated trough will weakening as it slides across Victoria. A series of cold fronts will then move across Victoria next week with the first front arriving overnight Monday and crossing the state during Tuesday, then another cold front on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas in the west, extending to central districts at night. Remaining fine in the east. Fresh and gusty northerly winds, strong at times and possibly reaching gale force about the ranges.Sunday 3 JulyAreas of rain, more persistent about the ranges and the northeast and clearing western districts during the day. Isolated showers to follow about the southwest coast with the chance of a thunderstorm. Snowfalls in the Alps above 1700m. Cool and cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger about the ranges.Monday 4 JulyScattered showers, mainly in the southwest and on the ranges with snowfalls lowering to 1200m. A cool to cold day with cloudy periods but remaining fine in the northwest. Fresh to strong west to northwest winds, reaching gale force at times along the ranges and in the southwest.Tuesday 5 JulyScattered showers with local hail in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1000m. Isolated showers in the northwest. Cold, fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force along the ranges and near the coast.Wednesday 6 JulyScattered showers persisting on and south of the ranges with local hail and thunder. Only isolated showers extending to the northwest inland areas. A cold day with fresh to strong and gusty west to northwest winds tending southwesterly and reaching gale force at times on the ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
