Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will gradually move eastwards to reach New Zealand by Saturday. A low pressure system in the Southern Ocean will also move eastwards to be south of Adelaide by Sunday with an associated trough weakening over southwest Victoria. A stronger cold front will reach western Victoria later Monday, moving through eastern districts early on Tuesday. The associated low pressure system will move south of Tasmania into the south Tasman Sea on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart the chance of a light shower in the far southwest. Northerly winds, moderate in the west.Saturday 2 JulyRain areas developing in the west and extending to central districts at night. Remaining fine in the east after isolated early fogs and frost. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong at times over central and southwestern areas.Sunday 3 JulyAreas of rain, clearing from west and easing to isolated showers in western and central districts. Snowfalls in the Alps above 1500m. Cool and cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger about the ranges.Monday 4 JulyScattered showers, mainly in the southwest and on the ranges with snowfalls lowering to 1200m. A cool to cold day with cloudy periods but remaining fine and sunny in the northwest. Fresh to strong west to northwest winds, reaching gale force along the ranges and shifting west to southwest in the west later in the day.Tuesday 5 JulyScattered showers with local hail in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1000m. Isolated showers in the northwest. Cold, fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force along the ranges and near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
