Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system east of Victoria will gradually move eastwards across the Tasman Sea to reach New Zealand by Saturday. A low pressure system south of Western Australia will also move eastwards to be south of Adelaide by Sunday with an associated trough weakening over southwest Victoria. A stronger cold front will reach Victoria later Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from early fog patches in the east and the chance of a light shower in the far southwest. A cool to mild day with areas of high cloud. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, lighter in the east.Saturday 2 JulyPatchy rain developing in the west and extending to central districts by the evening. Rain then becoming more extensive in the west at night. Remaining fine in the east after isolated early fogs. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong at times over central and southwestern areas.Sunday 3 JulyAreas of rain, clearing in the northwest and easing to isolated showers in the southwest during the afternoon. Snowfalls in the Alps above 1500m. Cool and cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger about the ranges.Monday 4 JulyScattered shower, mainly in the southwest and on the ranges with snowfalls lowering to 1200m. A cool to cold day with cloudy periods but remaining fine and sunny in the northwest. Fresh to strong west to northwest winds, reaching gale force along the ranges and shifting west to southwest in the west later in the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
