Torres Strait and Burnett Heads.

Weather Situation
A slow moving high pressure system [1028 hPa] over western New South Wales
extended a strengthening ridge along the east Queensland coast. A cold front was
moving over the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Mostly fine, only very isolated showers along the east coast. Fine elsewhere.
Light to moderate mostly E to SE winds, tending fresh along the tropical
coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers along the east coast, developing about adjacent inland parts
in the south in the afternoon. Dry over the remainder with early morning frosts
about the southeast and southern interior. Fresh to strong SE winds along the
east coast north of about Fraser Island. Light to moderate E to SE winds
elsewhere.
Forecast for Sunday
The high will weaken over New South Wales as a new high is expected to move
over South Australia. E to SE winds across most of Queensland with a further
increase in moisture is expected to result in milder temperatures with early
morning frost confined to the southeast Darling Downs and Granite Belt. Showers
about the east coast, extending inland into the central interior in the
afternoon. Fresh to strong SE winds along the tropical and central Queensland
coasts.
Forecast for Monday
The new high is expected to intensify and move east into Victoria, and will
maintain strong SE winds along the tropical and central Queensland coast.
Showers about the east coast, more frequent about the north tropical coast. An
upper level low is expected to approach far western Queensland and increase
instability. Added to this will be increasing moisture from the east across the
tropical interior, leading to isolated afternoon and evening showers over the
central and tropical interior. Early morning frost about the southeast Darling
Downs and Granite Belt
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will remain slow moving over southeastern Australia while
intensifying slightly. Strong SE winds are expected to continue along northern
and central coastal areas, and likely to extend to the southern coast during the
day. Showers about the east coast and adjacent inland, more frequent about the
north tropical coast. The upper level low is expected to remain in the far west
of the state with instability increasing. Isolated showers in the afternoon
inland apart from the far southern interior. Isolated thunderstorms are also
possible in the far west. Early morning frost about the southeast Darling Downs
and Granite Belt
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The large high will move slowly east into the Tasman Sea and continue with
fresh to strong SE winds to most of the east coast with scattered showers. The
upper level low is expected to move across the tropics, moving off the east
coast during Thursday. Isolated showers over most of the interior on Wednesday
before contracting to the east on Thursday.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Saturday.
