Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system south of Tasmania will slowly move southeast during Wednesday and a vigorous cold west to southwesterly airflow over Victoria will persist until the evening. A high pressure system will move across South Australia on Wednesday night then over western New South Wales on Thursday. The high will move slowly across New South Wales on Friday and Saturday. A weakening front will approach western Bass Strait later on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers mainly over southern and mountain districts, more extensive at times neat the coast. Local hail and the chance of thunder about the Gippsland coast this morning. Snow above 900 metres at first but becoming confined to the Alpine peaks during the day. Cool to cold with a fresh to strong westerly wind.Thursday 23 JuneScattered showers near the coast and about the eastern ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere, but mostly dry over the northwest. Cool with a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind.Friday 24 JuneIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Cool with a light to moderate westerly wind, tending northwesterly in the west.Saturday 25 JuneEarly frost in the northeast. Fine and mainly sunny day with light winds in the east, tending northwesterly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
