Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 20/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
During Tuesday a strong cold front will move through New South Wales and a high pressure system over southwestern Australia will extend a ridge across the north in the wake of the front. Over the next few days the high is expected to move very slowly east, strengthening the ridge across the state.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain in the south contracting northeast during the day, but showers persisting on and west of the ranges. Snow developing above 800 metres. Possible heavy snow on the Alpine peaks. The chance of thunderstorms and small hail in the south and southeast. Fresh to strong gusty northwest winds with possible gales on the ranges and coast and blizzards on the Alps, ahead of a colder westerly change.Wednesday 22 JuneIsolated showers in the southern inland. Snow on the western slopes of the Alps. Mainly fine elsewhere. West to southwest winds gradually easing.Thursday 23 JuneIsolated showers in the southeastern inland. Snow showers on the Alps. Mostly fine elsewhere. Southwesterly winds.Friday 24 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges, clearing. Mostly fine elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds becoming light and variable inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
