web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A slow-moving ridge of high pressure extends over Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers about the far northern Peninsula. Fine otherwise. Early
morning frost areas inland. Moderate SE winds across the tropics, light to
moderate SW to NW winds over southern districts.
Forecast for Tuesday
A cold front will move through South Australia and progress through Victoria
and New South Wales, extending into Queensland during the day as a southwesterly
change. Little or no rain expected along the southern border with this change.
Early frost will decrease across the southwest but persist elsewhere over much
of the state. Very isolated showers continuing in the northeast tropics.
Forecast for Wednesday
The southwesterly change will clear the southeast coast in the early hours
and move north along the Capricorn coast and onto the Central coast. The next
high will move over central Australia and extend a ridge through southern
Queensland. Southeasterly winds to freshen ahead of this change over the tropics
with fresh to strong winds developing. Remaining dry over the state apart from
very isolated showers on the northeast tropical coast. Early frost over the
eastern interior.
Forecast for Thursday
The high moves southeast and is expected to be near Adelaide. The coastal
trough moves into the tropics with isolated showers developing about the
southern tropics. Isolated showers becoming more frequent further north along
the Queensland east coast. Fresh to strong SE winds continuing over northern
waters. Dry elsewhere over the state with early frost over the interior.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
The high moves over southeast Australia and directs a southeasterly flow over
much of Queensland. This increases showers generally about the east coast.
Showers are expected to develop about the exposed east coast and islands on
Friday, and then extend further inland to adjacent locations during Saturday and
Sunday. Remaining fine over the interior where early frosts are likely. Fresh to
strong SE winds continuing about the northeast tropical coast and extending
further south to the Central coast during the weekend. Winds easing over Gulf
waters.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Monday.
