Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad high pressure ridge is expected to dominate over northern and central parts of New South Wales today. A cold front sliding to the south may bring weak shower activity to the far southwestern slopes and Alps today and tomorrow. A stronger, active cold front is expected to cross the state Tuesday, particularly affecting southern and central parts, with significant snow on the Alps likely. Showers will gradually clear from the western slopes and ranges in the middle of the next week as a ridge strengthens over the state.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges and along the Victorian border, tending scattered on the western slopes of the Alps, with some snow possible on the peaks. Fine elsewhere. West to northwest winds becoming fresh to strong and gusty in the south with possible gales and blizzard conditions on the southern ranges in the evening.Tuesday 21 JuneIsolated showers extending over the southern half of the state and to the southern parts of the northern ranges, slopes and plains. Showers becoming widespread about the western slopes of the southern ranges with possible thunderstorms and small hail while heavy snow develops over the Alpine areas. Fresh to strong gusty northwest winds with possible gales on the ranges and blizzards in the far south, ahead of a colder west to southwesterly change.Wednesday 22 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges and in the far southeast tending scattered on the western slopes of the Alps with some snow possible. Fine elsewhere. West to southwest winds.Thursday 23 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges and in the far southeast, more likely on the western slopes of the Alps with some snow possible on the peaks.
