MELBOURNE - Jun 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Nil. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A slow-moving ridge of high pressure extends over Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Dry throughout Queensland, chilly in the south this morning, widespread early frost over most districts. Moderate to fresh SE winds over the tropics. Light to moderate SW winds over the southern half of the state. Forecast for Monday The ridge of higher pressure continues to dominate across Queensland with mostly dry weather. In the NE tropics winds are shifting more SE'ly with increasing moisture and this may lead to isolated showers developing about the coast. Chilly in the morning with extensive early frost over most districts. Moderate SE winds across the tropics, light to moderate SW winds over southern districts. Forecast for Tuesday A cold front moves through South Australia and progresses through Victoria and New South Wales. This cold front will eventually move through southern Queensland later in the day as a SW'ly change. Little or no rain may occur along the southern border with this change. Early frost will decrease across the south but persist elsewhere over the state. Isolated showers continuing in the NE tropics. Forecast for Wednesday The SW'ly change or trough has cleared the SE coast in the early hours and now moves north along the Capricorn coast and onto the central coast. SE'ly winds freshen ahead of this change over the NE tropics with strong winds developing. Remaining dry over the state apart from isolated showers on the NE tropical coast. Early frost over the interior. Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday Thursday, the coastal trough moves into the southern tropics with isolated showers. Isolated showers persisting further north along the QLD coast with strong SE winds. Strong SE winds now developing in the southern Gulf. Dry over the remainder of the state with early frost. Friday, The next high enters southern QLD and this turns winds more SE'ly about the QLD east coast. This then increases showers generally about the east coast. Saturday, showers about the east coast, dry inland. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Sunday.
