Weather Situation
A slow-moving ridge of high pressure extends over Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Dry throughout Queensland, chilly in the south this morning, widespread early
frost over most districts. Moderate to fresh SE winds over the tropics. Light to
moderate SW winds over the southern half of the state.
Forecast for Monday
The ridge of higher pressure continues to dominate across Queensland with
mostly dry weather. In the NE tropics winds are shifting more SE'ly with
increasing moisture and this may lead to isolated showers developing about the
coast. Chilly in the morning with extensive early frost over most districts.
Moderate SE winds across the tropics, light to moderate SW winds over southern
districts.
Forecast for Tuesday
A cold front moves through South Australia and progresses through Victoria
and New South Wales. This cold front will eventually move through southern
Queensland later in the day as a SW'ly change. Little or no rain may occur along
the southern border with this change. Early frost will decrease across the south
but persist elsewhere over the state. Isolated showers continuing in the NE
tropics.
Forecast for Wednesday
The SW'ly change or trough has cleared the SE coast in the early hours and
now moves north along the Capricorn coast and onto the central coast. SE'ly
winds freshen ahead of this change over the NE tropics with strong winds
developing. Remaining dry over the state apart from isolated showers on the NE
tropical coast. Early frost over the interior.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Thursday, the coastal trough moves into the southern tropics with isolated
showers. Isolated showers persisting further north along the QLD coast with
strong SE winds. Strong SE winds now developing in the southern Gulf. Dry over
the remainder of the state with early frost. Friday, The next high enters
southern QLD and this turns winds more SE'ly about the QLD east coast. This then
increases showers generally about the east coast. Saturday, showers about the
east coast, dry inland.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Sunday.
