MELBOURNE - Jun 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving ridge of high pressure extends over Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Fine. Moderate SW to SE winds, fresh and gusty at times over the southeast
and the north.
Forecast for Sunday
Fine throughout. A cold morning across the state with extensive early morning
frosts across the interior and inland coastal districts, extending as far north
as the Atherton Tablelands. Light to moderate SW to SE winds.
Forecast for Monday
The ridge continues to extend across the state from the high over the Indian
Ocean. Fine almost throughout, apart from possible isolated showers about the
north tropical coast due to the onshore airflow north of the ridge. A cold
morning across the state with extensive early morning frosts across the interior
and inland coastal districts. Light to moderate SW to SE winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high is expected to move over Western Australia. The ridge is expected to
persist across central areas of the state as a cold front moves over southern
Queensland. No rain is expected with this front in Queensland. Fine almost
throughout, apart from isolated showers about the north tropical coast due to
the onshore airflow north of the ridge. A cold morning across the state with
extensive early morning frosts across the interior and inland coastal districts.
Light to moderate SW to SE winds, with freshening NW to SW winds over southern
districts due to the passage of the cold front.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high is expected to be over central or southern Australia, with the ridge
moving over southern Queensland. Mostly fine conditions with just possible
isolated showers over the north tropical coast. Apart from the southwest, a cold
morning with early morning frost over much of the interior and inland coastal
districts. Light to moderate SW to SE winds, tending fresh near the north
tropical coast.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
The ridge is expected to drift slowly south and lie over New South Wales by
Friday. Mostly fine conditions are expected to continue across the state apart
from isolated showers along the north tropical coast. Isolated showers are
expected to develop along parts of the exposed east coast from Thursday and
extend to adjacent inland locations from Friday. Cool to cold mornings with
early frosts across most of the interior.
