MELBOURNE - Jun 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front moved across eastern Victoria on Friday afternoon. A high pressure ridge will move across the State on Saturday and yet another front will brush southern Victoria on Sunday. A stronger cold front is expected to reach western Victoria late on Monday, moving across eastern Victoria on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile an associated deep low will pass just south of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast. Snow showers above 1200 metres. Cool gusty west to southwesterly winds, strong about the exposed coast.Saturday 18 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Snow showers over the Alps. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, tending northwesterly later in the west.Sunday 19 JuneRain areas extending eastwards across most districts, falling as snow over the Alps. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Monday 20 JuneRain areas extending across the State during the day and falling as snow over the Alps later in the day. Cool and cloudy with fresh to strong northwesterly wind, reaching gale force at times about the ranges.Tuesday 21 JuneScattered showers with possible hail, mainly in southern and mountain districts and falling as snow above 800 metres. Isolated thunderstorms mainly in the south.
