MELBOURNE - Jun 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is passing over the southeast of the state and a high pressure ridge will develop over the west and northeast. The ridge is expected to persist in the west and northeast over the forecast period and further cold fronts are expected to move through the southeast. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers on and west of the ranges in the south, falling as snow above 1300 metres. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong and gusty west to southwest winds.Saturday 18 JuneIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, with snow on the higher peaks of the Alps. Early fog and frost patches, chiefly in the northern inland. Fine remainder. Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong at times about the southern ranges.Sunday 19 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges, tending scattered on the western slopes of the Alps, with some snow possible on the peaks. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds.Monday 20 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges tending scattered on the western slopes of the Alps, with some snow possible on the peaks. Fine elsewhere. West to northwest winds becoming fresh to strong and gusty in the south.Tuesday 21 JuneIsolated showers extending over the southern half of the state and to the southern parts of the northern slopes and plains. Showers becoming widespread about the western slopes of the southern ranges, with heavy snow developing over the Alpine areas.
