MELBOURNE - Jun 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western Victoria will cross the remainder of the State by Friday afternoon. Another front will pass through Bass Strait on Saturday and yet another will brush southern Victoria on Sunday. A stronger cold front is expected to reach Victoria late on Monday and an associated deep low will pass just south of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers, extending to all southern and mountain areas by the early afternoon with isolated showers reaching the northern plains. The chance of local thunderstorms about the coast. Snow showers developing above 1200 metres. Early fog and frost patches in Gippsland. Fresh north to northwesterly wind shifting cooler gusty west to southwesterly from the west and becoming strong about the exposed coast.Saturday 18 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Snow showers over the Alps. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, tending northwesterly later in the west.Sunday 19 JuneIsolated showers in the southwest, mainly near the coast. The chance of showers elsewhere near and south of the ranges, falling as snow over the Alps. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Monday 20 JuneRain areas extending across the state during the day and falling as snow over the Alps later in the day.
