MELBOURNE - Jun 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Nil.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system occurs over the northern Tasman Sea. A ridge of
high pressure extends through central Australia through the interior.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Isolated showers about the far south and southeast, and also about the far
northern Peninsula. Fine elsewhere. Moderate to fresh SE winds across the
tropics, light to moderate SW to S'ly winds over the remainder.
Forecast for Friday
Early drizzle or fog over the southern and SE interior with a little early
frost, and possible afternoon showers. Dry over the remainder of the state apart
from isolated showers in the northern tropics. Extensive early frost over the
interior and southern tropics. Moderate to fresh SE winds across the tropics,
light to moderate SW to S winds over southern Queensland, freshening during the
day in the southeast.
Forecast for Saturday
The next high approaches western Queensland, maintaining the ridge through
the state with dry SW to SE winds. Isolated showers persisting over northeast
Cape York Peninsula, otherwise dry over the remainder of the state. Extensive
early frost over the interior, including the Atherton Tablelands and southeast
inland. Strong SW winds about the SE coast easing.
Forecast for Sunday
The high weakens and moves through Queensland along the ridge axis. Showers
begin to extend in the NE tropics as winds shift more easterly with increasing
moisture levels. Dry over the remainder with extensive inland frost.
Forecast for Monday
The next high moves into Western Australia, weakening the ridge through the
state. The winds shift more onshore along the east coast, so isolated showers
expected along exposed parts but chiefly in the tropics. Dry over the remainder
with extensive early frost inland.
Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
The ridge axis shifts a little south as the next high moves into central
Australia. Isolated showers likely for parts of the east coast. Remaining fine
inland with early frost.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Friday.
