Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 15/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure area occurs over the southern Coral sea with a ridge
of higher pressure over Western and South Australia. An upper level low is
moving out to sea over SE Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Early drizzle or fog over the southern and SE interior with a little early
frost. Isolated showers remaining over the SE interior in the afternoon. Dry
over the remainder of the state apart from isolated showers in the northern
tropics. Extensive early frost over the interior and southern tropics. Moderate
to fresh SE winds across the tropics, light to moderate SW to S winds over
southern Queensland.
Forecast for Friday
The next high is expected to moves across Western Australia with a ridge
extending across Queensland. Dry conditions generally over the state with
lighter winds. Isolated showers persisting over northeast Cape York Peninsula
and a little drizzle or showers persisting over the southern Darling Downs.
Extensive early frost over the interior, including the Atherton Tablelands and
the southeast inland. Freshening SW winds about the SE coast.
Forecast for Saturday
The next high is approaching western Queensland otherwise the ridge
dominates. Isolated showers persisting over northeast Cape York Peninsula,
otherwise dry over the remainder of the state. Extensive early frost over the
interior, including the Atherton Tablelands and southeast inland. Strong SW
winds about the SE coast easing.
Forecast for Sunday
The high weakens and moves through Queensland along the ridge axis. Showers
increase in the NE tropics as winds shift more easterly with increasing moisture
levels. Dry over the remainder with extensive inland frost.
Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
The ridge axis shifts a little south and weakens over Queensland for Monday
with increasing showers about the NE tropical coast and the central coast as
winds continue to shift more easterly. Remaining dry inland with early frost. By
Tuesday, a cold front is moving through South Australia and the ridge weakens
over Queensland. Showers now decrease about the central coast, inland frost
decreases. By Wednesday, drier, cooler SW winds develop across southern
Queensland again. Showers remaining in the NE tropics.

Thursday.
