Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 15/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea and will move steadily eastwards on Thursday. A cold front over the Bight will approach far western Victoria late Thursday, then move across the State on Friday morning. Another cold front will pass through Bass Strait on Saturday and yet another will brush southern Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning frost and fog areas in the north and east, then a fine and cool day. Sunny for most of the day in the east but high cloud in the west reaching central areas late morning. Isolated showers developing in the southwest at night. Light to moderate northerly wind, freshening over western and central districts.Friday 17 JuneScattered showers extending to all southern and mountain areas during the morning and early afternoon and isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Snow showers above 1500 metres. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly wind shifting cooler gusty west to southwesterly from the west.Saturday 18 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Snow showers over the Alps. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, tending northwesterly later in the west.Sunday 19 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast and about the northeast ranges and falling as snow over the Alps. The chance of showers in the northwest. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
