Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just off the NSW far north coast, is expected to deepen and move slowly to the south over the next couple of days. A strong high pressure system west of Tasmania is moving slowly east extending a ridge across the southern Tasman Sea. The low is expected to move away to the east on Thursday, a cold front will then cross southern and central parts of the state.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas in the northeast, heavy at times about the coast and adjacent ranges with possible thunderstorms. Scattered showers about remaining northern and eastern districts. Isolated snow showers possible on the Alps above 1600 metres. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeast winds, fresh near the coast and on the ranges and strengthening along the north coast.Tuesday 14 JuneRain areas in the northeast, heavy at times about the Mid North Coast and northern parts of the Hunter district, with possible thunderstorms. Scattered showers about remaining northern and eastern districts. Isolated snow showers on the Alps above 1500 metres. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds, gusty near the coast and on the ranges. Dangerous surf conditions in the north.Wednesday 15 JuneRain areas over the northeast, heavy at times about the Hunter and southern Mid North Coast. Scattered showers about remaining northern and eastern districts. Isolated snow showers on the Alps above about 1500 metres. Fine elsewhere. East to southeast winds, fresh to strong about central parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions for northern and central parts.Thursday 16 JuneRain areas in central eastern districts, easing during the day. Isolated showers about remaining eastern parts. Fine in the west. Southwest to southeast winds, fresh to strong about parts of the coast tending west to northwest in the northeast. Dangerous surf conditions on parts of the coast.Friday 17 JuneIsolated showers about the west slopes of the ranges, chiefly in the south, and over the southern inland. Snow on the Alps. Fine elsewhere. Dry, fresh and gusty west to southwest winds extending throughout, cooler in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
