Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system just east of Tasmania is moving slowly northeastwards before weakening over the Tasman Sea on Friday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will build south of the Bight through till Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain in East Gippsland. Scattered showers on and south of the ranges with local hail and thunder in the east. Fine over the northern plains. Snow showers above 800 metres. Fresh to strong and gusty south to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force at times along the Gippsland coast.Thursday 9 JuneRain in Gippsland. Scattered showers in remaining southern and mountain areas. Fine and mainly sunny north of the Divide although isolated showers possible near the ranges. Widespread morning frost over the north. Snow showers above 900 metres in the morning before being confined to 1200 metres and above later. Cold with a fresh to strong southerly wind easing in the west.Friday 10 JuneWidespread showers in East Gippsland easing. Scattered showers over remaining southern areas becoming isolated during the day. Snow on the Alps. Fine and sunny north of the divide after widespread morning frost. Remaining cool to cold with moderate southerly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Saturday 11 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mostly contracting to Gippsland and coastal areas during the day. Isolated snow showers over the Alps contracting southwards. Fine and sunny over the northern inland after early frost. Remaining cool to cold with moderate south to southeast winds.Sunday 12 JuneIsolated showers in southern areas. Early inland frost over the north.
