Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front crossed most of NSW over the last 24 hours with a strong, very cold, dry west to southwesterly airflow affecting the state, particularly southern and central parts. The front extends from a low east of Tasmania. The low is expected to move slowly to the east/northeast over the next 48 hours maintaining the strong southwest airstream over eastern parts of the state throughout Thursday before winds turn more southerly and gradually ease Friday. A strong, slow moving high south of the Bight will extend a ridge over southern NSW for the weekend while in the north an approaching upper trough is likely to bring some rain particularly along the north coast late in the weekend where a surface trough is expected to deepen. A low may develop off the NSW north coast or southeast Queensland coast early next week though there is still considerable uncertainty about this scenario.
