Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front extends northwards from a low near Tasmania and into central New South Wales. Very cold air and strong gusty winds are associated with this front. A little snow to very low levels and possible thunder or small hail are expected to result through today about the western slopes, southern ranges and central ranges. A high in the Bight will follow the front. Over the weekend a trough will develop along the coast with a low likely off the far north coast Sunday/Tuesday. Accompanied by an upper trough over the inland, rain/showers are expected over much of the state during this period with significant rain in the far northeast of the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayWidespread early frost in the east. Isolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges and the far south coast, falling as snow down to about 500 metres in the south and 900 metres in central parts at first during the morning, then contracting to higher elevations during the day. The chance of thunder or small hail over the same area. Fine on the north coast and in the far west. Cold west to southwest winds, strong and gusty in the east.Thursday 9 JuneWidespread early frosts in the east. Isolated showers in the southeastern inland and on the far south coast, more likely about the western slopes of the Alps. Snow showers on the Alps. Cold southwest winds, strong and gusty in the east.Friday 10 JuneWidespread early frosts in the east. Isolated showers on the South Coast and the Snowy Mountains, falling as snow on the Alps and possibly extending to the coastal fringe of the central coast late in the day. Fine remainder. South to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast.Saturday 11 JuneScattered showers developing over the northern coast and ranges, possibly extending to the southern half of the coast late in the day. A little patchy rain developing about the inland Queensland border areas. The chance of a little morning snow about the Alps. South to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coast and northern ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
