MELBOURNE - Jun 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low over the northern Tasman Sea is moving southwards, while a high over New Zealand extends a weakening ridge towards the far northwest. On Friday the low and associated broad trough will dominate over the Tasman while a cold front enters Victoria. This front is expected to affect southern and central parts of New South Wales over the weekend. Another cold front is likely to affect the state early next week. A weak high pressure ridge will linger in the far north. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers along the coast and the northern ranges, more frequent along the northern coast. Clear remainder. Southeast to northeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions for most of the coast.Friday 3 JuneIsolated showers along the northern half of the coast, contracting further north and clearing during the day. Isolated showers developing along the inland Victorian border. Early fog areas and isolated frost patches. Partly cloudy remainder. South to southwest winds in the northeast tending northwest to northeasterly elsewhere. Dangerous surf conditions easing.Saturday 4 JuneIsolated showers over the southern half, mostly about the southwest slopes of the ranges with the chance of thunderstorms over the far southern ranges. Possible snow showers about the Alpine peaks. Cloud increasing in the north. Early fog areas and isolated frost patches, mostly in the north. West to northwest winds ahead of a west to southwest change in the south and west.Sunday 5 JunePossible isolated showers through central inland and eastern parts, contracting east. Possible snow showers about the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to southwest winds.Monday 6 JunePossible isolated showers over the southern half, more likely over the southwestern slopes. Possible snow showers about the southern ranges. Frost areas on the ranges and slopes, mostly in the north.
