MELBOURNE - Jun 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system is over the southern Tasman Sea and extends a ridge northwestwards over Victoria. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Thursday before weakening as it crosses Victoria on Friday. A weak ridge will cross Victoria on Saturday ahead of a stronger cold front crossing Victoria during Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from fog patches in Gippsland. Light winds tending moderate northeast to northerly in the west.Thursday 2 JuneFine and mostly sunny after morning fog patches in the east. Morning frost patches, mainly in the east then a cool to mild day with light to moderate northerly wind, freshening over southwestern and central areas.Friday 3 JunePatchy rain in the southwest extending eastwards during the day, but remaining dry over East Gippsland. Morning fog patches in Gippsland. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind shifting westerly from the west.Saturday 4 JunePatchy rain in the east clearing. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Snow showers developing above 1500 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with mainly moderate westerly wind.Sunday 5 JuneScattered showers in the southwest during the morning, extending to remaining southern and mountain areas during the day. Isolated showers developing in the north. Snow showers above 1100 metres.
