MELBOURNE - Jun 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An east to west orientated trough over the northern Tasman Sea will move slowly to the east over the next couple of days. A complex low pressure system is embedded in this trough. A strong slow moving high lies over the Southern Tasman Sea and extends a ridge to the far south coast, the ridge will extend to the central coast tomorrow and persist through Friday. A cold front is expected to affect southern and central parts of the state over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered to widespread showers along the north coast, possibly heavy at times with possible isolated thunderstorms. Scattered showers about the remainder of the coast and adjacent ranges, north from about the Illawarra, and isolated showers on the North West Slopes. Fine in the remainder. Southeasterly winds, strong along the north coast and fresh to strong on the northern ranges. Dangerous surf conditions for the coast north from the Illawarra.Thursday 2 JuneIsolated showers along the coast and the northern ranges, more frequent along the northern coast. Southeast to northeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions for the coast north from the Illawarra, contracting northwards during the day.Friday 3 JuneIsolated showers along the northern half of the coast, contracting further north during the day. Isolated showers over the southern inland. Southeast winds in the northeast tending northwest to northeasterly elsewhere.Saturday 4 JuneIsolated showers over the southern half, mostly about the southwest slopes of the ranges. North to northwest winds ahead of a west to southwest change in the south and west.Sunday 5 JunePossible isolated showers through central inland and eastern parts, contracting east.
