MELBOURNE - Apr 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system over the southeastern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northwestern New South Wales and a low pressure system is developing over the northeastern Tasman Sea. During Saturday and Sunday the low will move south across the eastern Tasman Sea as the ridge weakens over New South Wales. A weak low pressure trough is expected to develop in the far west of the state on Monday then to move through during Tuesday. A broad high pressure ridge is expected to extend from the west over most of New South Wales on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Isolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered on the central and northern coasts. Possible heavy falls along the northern coastal fringe. The chance of thunderstorm on the north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast north from the Illawarra, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing. Sunday 1 May Possible coastal showers apart from the far south. Late patchy rain developing in the southwest. Early fog, mostly in the east. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions along the New South Wales coast, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing. Monday 2 May Patchy rain in the south and west with the chance of showers on the coast and over central inland parts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog, mostly in the east. South to southwest winds. Dangerous surf conditions along the New South Wales coast, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, easing in the north. Tuesday 3 May Partly cloudy in the far west. Isolated showers with the chance of thunderstorms in the remainder but clearing from the west. South to southwest winds. Dangerous surf conditions along the central and southern parts of New South Wales coast, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, gradually easing. Wednesday 4 MayIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered along the northern and central coastal fringe. Partly cloudy remainder.
