MELBOURNE - Apr 29/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will move only slowly eastwards, crossing New Zealand on Saturday. A cold front will weaken to a trough of low pressure as it approaches far southwestern Victoria tonight and will remain in the vicinity on Saturday. The trough will push further eastwards on Sunday before extending throughout the State during Monday. On Tuesday a high pressure system will develop over the Bight. Forecast for the rest of FridayDry apart from the chance of isolated showers in the far southwest. Light to moderate northerly winds,Saturday 30 AprilIsolated showers over the southwest but dry elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the east. A mostly cloudy day with light northerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Low to ModerateSunday 1 MayPatchy rain in the southwest extending to central districts in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers possible elsewhere. Mostly cloudy with mild northerly winds turning west to southwesterly from the west during the day.Monday 2 MayAreas of rain in the north and east contracting eastwards. Scattered showers to follow in southern and mountain areas. A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds extending throughout and freshening near the western coast.Tuesday 3 MayIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, scattered in the southeast.
