Weather Situation
A high [1025 hPa] lies over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge into
western Queensland. A weak trough and low lies over the Coral Sea. An upper
level trough is moving across southern Queensland.

to SE elsewhere.

over northern Cape York Peninsula and over central and southeast districts.
Morning fogs about central and southeast districts. Fine elsewhere. Light to
moderate SE to NE winds over eastern districts, tending SW to SE elsewhere.
Forecast for Sunday
The high should strengthen near Tasmania and direct fresh southeast winds
onto Queensland's east coast. The upper trough should move off the east coast
with conditions stabilising in the east of the state. The strengthening onshore
flow will produce isolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland. The
lingering upper trough may cause scattered showers about the southeast coast.

Peninsula district. Fine over the western districts and the southern interior.
Forecast for Monday
The high should remain over the western Tasman sea and intensify slightly
maintaining fresh to strong southeast winds along the east coast of Queensland.
Isolated showers will continue about the east coast and adjacent inland areas,
tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Dry southerly winds will keep
most of the interior of the state fine.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will remain slow moving over the western Tasman sea and intensify
slightly maintaining fresh to strong southeast winds along the east coast of
Queensland. Isolated showers will continue about the east coast and adjacent
inland areas, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Another upper
trough moving over southern Queensland is likely to produce scattered showers
about the east coast, and spread isolated showers across the southern interior.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The high should remain over the western Tasman Sea, maintaining a firm ridge
and fresh to strong onshore winds along the east coast of Queensland. Scattered
showers will continue about the east coast, tending more isolated over the
eastern interior. Showers and thunderstorms will continue over the Peninsula
district, but conditions should remain fine in the west.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Saturday.
