Warning Summary at issue time Flood warnings are current for Bungil and Yuleba Creeks and the Balonne, Dawson, Comet, Georgina and Diamantina Rivers and the Cooper Creek. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high [1025 hPa] lies over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge into western Queensland. A weak trough and low lies over the Coral Sea. An upper level trough is moving across southern Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated showers about the coast and eastern interior. Isolated thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsula, northeast Gulf Country and southeast districts. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over eastern districts, tending SW to SE elsewhere. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers about the coast and eastern interior. Isolated thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula and over central and southeast districts. Morning fogs about central and southeast districts. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over eastern districts, tending SW to SE elsewhere. Forecast for Sunday The high should strengthen near Tasmania and direct fresh southeast winds onto Queensland's east coast. The upper trough should move off the east coast with conditions stabilising in the east of the state. The strengthening onshore flow will produce isolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland. The lingering upper trough may cause scattered showers about the southeast coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue about the far north of the Peninsula district. Fine over the western districts and the southern interior. Forecast for Monday The high should remain over the western Tasman sea and intensify slightly maintaining fresh to strong southeast winds along the east coast of Queensland. Isolated showers will continue about the east coast and adjacent inland areas, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Dry southerly winds will keep most of the interior of the state fine. Forecast for Tuesday The high will remain slow moving over the western Tasman sea and intensify slightly maintaining fresh to strong southeast winds along the east coast of Queensland. Isolated showers will continue about the east coast and adjacent inland areas, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Another upper trough moving over southern Queensland is likely to produce scattered showers about the east coast, and spread isolated showers across the southern interior. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The high should remain over the western Tasman Sea, maintaining a firm ridge and fresh to strong onshore winds along the east coast of Queensland. Scattered showers will continue about the east coast, tending more isolated over the eastern interior. Showers and thunderstorms will continue over the Peninsula district, but conditions should remain fine in the west. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Saturday.
