MELBOURNE - Apr 15/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over the Tasman sea will move eastwards to be located near New Zealand tonight. A high pressure system south of Tasmania will move to the northwest and will be west of Tasmania by early Saturday. The high will then move across Victoria on Sunday to be over the Tasman Sea by Monday. The high will leave a ridge across southern NSW during Monday as a weak cold front passes over Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over Gippsland with isolated showers developing over remaining southern and mountain districts. Morning fog patches inland. Mainly fine north of the divide, just the chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Saturday 16 AprilFine in the northwest. Scattered showers over Gippsland. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, contracting to the coast and Otway ranges by the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly windsSunday 17 AprilMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers in the southeast and near the Otway ranges, clearing from the west in the morning and from the southeast in the afternoon. Mild with light and variable winds inland, moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Monday 18 AprilLocal morning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers developing in the southwest and extending to south Gippsland during the evening. Fine elsewhere.
