MELBOURNE - Apr 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system east of Tasmania will be slow moving today as a high pressure system remains well south of Tasmania. The low will move eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Friday to be near New Zealand by late in the day. The high centre will move northwards to be west of Tasmania by late Saturday. The high will then move across Victoria to the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers on and south of the ranges tending more isolated over the southwest. Isolated showers possible over the far northwest. Showers easing later in the day. Cool with light to moderate west to northwest winds tending southwest to southeasterly in the afternoon, fresh at times near the coast.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Friday 15 AprilScattered showers over Gippsland and near the Otway ranges. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, but fine over the north and northwest. Cool with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly winds.Saturday 16 AprilFine in the northwest. Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts, more scattered in Gippsland. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly windsSunday 17 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast and near the Otway ranges, clearing from the west in the morning and from the southeast in the afternoon.
