MELBOURNE - Apr 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system and associated cold front over the Bight is just west of Victoria. The front is forecast to move into western Victoria this morning before moving through central districts in the afternoon then out of eastern districts early Sunday. The low is expected to be in the vicinity of Bass Strait for Sunday and Monday before weakening Tuesday as it begins to move eastwards. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas developing from the west and extending to eastern districts by the evening. Isolated showers to follow over the southwest. Warm with a fresh and gusty north to northwesterly wind, tending cooler west to northwesterly from the west.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Sunday 10 AprilRain areas clearing from eastern districts during the morning with isolated showers re-developing over most districts by the afternoon. Showers more widespread over the southwest and tending to rain at times. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds over the east, tending southwesterly over the west.Monday 11 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, tending to rain at times by the afternoon. Local heavy falls possible. The chance of snow showers about the higher Alpine peaks. Isolated showers in the northwest. Cool with generally moderate to fresh west to northwest winds over the east tending southwest to southerly over the west.Tuesday 12 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, locally tending to rain at times. The chance of snow showers about the higher Alpine peaks. Showers becoming more isolated over the southwest.
