MELBOURNE - Apr 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system centred south of the Bight extends a ridge across northern Victoria. A cold front embedded in a southwesterly airflow is over southern Tasmania and will move to the Tasman Sea today, just clipping Bass Strait. The high pressure system will then move slowly eastwards, passing just to the south of Victoria mid week. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mainly near the coast. Fine and mainly sunny north of the ranges. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Monday 4 AprilIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas contracting to the coast during the afternoon. Fine and sunny in the north. Cool to mild with a moderating south to southwesterly wind.Tuesday 5 AprilFine apart from isolated showers in the far east and morning drizzle in the southwest. Cool to mild with moderating southwest to southerly winds tending southeasterly in the west.Wednesday 6 AprilFine apart from local morning fogs and isolated clearing showers about the far east. A generally mild and mostly sunny day inland with light northeasterly winds.
