Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system lies across Bass Strait. The system is expected to track slowly away to the southeast during Thursday. A large high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Friday and then will approach western Victoria on Saturday. The high will pass through Bass Strait during Sunday,
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers. The chance of thunderstorms near the coast and ranges. Moderate northerly winds tending west to southwesterly over the far west.Thursday 24 MarchShower activity near and south of the ranges increasing late in the day. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southeast. A cool to mild day with freshening westerly wind turning southwesterly and strengthening about the coast.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Friday 25 MarchScattered showers over Gippsland, but only isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Morning drizzle patches over the northwest, otherwise fine and partly cloudy. Cool with fresh southwest to southerly wind, strong at first about the coast.Saturday 26 MarchIsolated showers in the south, contracting to the coast and Gippsland during the afternoon. Cool and mostly cloudy in the south but milder and mainly sunny over the north. Mainly moderate southwest to southerly wind.Sunday 27 MarchIsolated coastal drizzle clearing during the morning otherwise fine. Early cloud in the south, then a sunny day throughout.
