Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system lies over Bass Strait with a trough to a second weaker low over the Tasman Sea which is developing and moving towards the south. These systems are producing a fairly moist west to southwest airstream over New South Wales with showers about the western slopes of the ranges and in the south. The low pressure area is expected to move slowly to the south over the next few days with a high pressure ridge gradually becoming established over New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Chance of isolated showers in the southern inland and on the western ranges and slopes, more likely over the far southern Riverina. Chance of thunder over the southwest and along the south coast. Fine over the remainder. Northwest to southwest winds, tending locally east to northeasterly along the coast.
Dangerous surf conditions on the coast south from Sydney, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing.
Thursday 24 MarchIsolated showers over the southern half tending scattered on the southwest slopes. The chance of thunderstorms over the southeast in the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to southwest winds.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Greater Hunter Fire Area.Friday 25 MarchIsolated showers in the southeast, possibly extending along the coast in the afternoon. Southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 26 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Sunday 27 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and eastern ranges north from about the Illawarra. Fine elsewhere. East to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
