Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad area of low pressure is over eastern New South Wales with a low centre over the far south coast. The low is expected to continue moving towards Bass Strait. The trough extending from the low is expected to pass through most of the state by Tuesday night. The west to southwesterly airstream behind the trough is expected to affect New South Wales from Wednesday, tending more southerly in the north later in the week as high pressure ridges across the state.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers about the southern inland and the northern ranges and coast. Mostly fine elsewhere. The chance of isolated thunderstorms along the southern and northern ranges. Northeasterly to northwesterly winds tending southwesterly in the west.
Dangerous surf conditions on the coast south from Sydney, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing.
Wednesday 23 March
Isolated showers in the southern inland and on the western ranges and slopes. Chance of thunder over the southwest in the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder. Northwest to southwest winds tending northeasterly along the coast in the afternoon.
Dangerous surf conditions on the coast south from Sydney, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing.
Thursday 24 MarchIsolated showers over the southern half tending scattered on the southwest slopes. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to southwest winds.Friday 25 MarchIsolated showers in the southeast, extending along the coast in the afternoon. Southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 26 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
