MELBOURNE - Mar 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over northwestern Victoria will drift slowly southeastwards across central Victoria tonight. The low will then drift westwards to be south of Mt Gambier by late Tuesday. The low is expected to be slow moving during Wednesday before moving southeastwards across Tasmania and deepening on Thursday. A large high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas, tending to showers in the northwest. The chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the north. Locally heavy falls about the eastern ranges. Mild and humid with moderate northeast to southeasterly wind, fresh about the coast.Tuesday 22 MarchRain areas, contracting to the far east and the southwest during the morning. Locally heavy falls in the far east. Showers elsewhere becoming isolated in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the south and east, mainly in the afternoon. Mild with moderate to fresh northeast wind turning northwest to westerly.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Wednesday 23 MarchAreas of rain over the southwest and across the ranges. Scattered showers elsewhere. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Thursday 24 MarchScattered showers near and south of the ranges tending more isolated in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Friday 25 MarchScattered showers on and south of the divide and isolated showers over the northern plains.
