Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system passing south of Tasmania tonight will move across the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday. A broad low pressure trough over South Australia will move east and deepen into a low pressure system that is likely to move into northwestern Victoria late Sunday. The low is forecast to move southwards during Monday to be near western Bass Strait by late Monday. The low is expected to be slow moving during Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayClear in the west, partly cloudy in the east with isolated showers over the ranges. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coast.Sunday 20 MarchPartly cloudy in the east with isolated showers developing, mainly about the ranges. Patchy rain developing in the west then increasing over the northwest during the afternoon and evening with local heavy falls possible. Isolated thunderstorms possible about the ranges in the afternoon and developing later over the west. A mild to warm and humid day with moderate east to northeasterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Monday 21 MarchAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms with local heavy falls extending eastwards but easing from the northwest. Cool to mild and humid with moderate to fresh northeast winds, tending west to southwesterly later in the west.Tuesday 22 MarchRain areas, clearing from East Gippsland but redeveloping over the southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 23 MarchAreas of rain over the southwest and across the ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
