Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system located well south of the Bight extends a ridge to Victoria. The high will drift eastwards and will pass south of Tasmania during Saturday and across the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday. A low pressure trough will extend southwards into western Victoria on Sunday and become slow moving near central Victoria on Monday and deepening on Tuesday. At the same time the next high pressure system will move from the west through the Southern Ocean to be located well south of Tasmania by late Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMainly fine. Isolated showers in East Gippsland. Moderate southeasterly winds.Saturday 19 MarchIsolated showers in the east. Fine and mild to warm elsewhere and becoming mostly sunny across the west and north. Moderate east to southeasterly wind, freshening along the coast.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Sunday 20 MarchCool to mild and cloudy in the east with isolated showers. Mild to warm elsewhere with patchy rain developing in the west. Mostly dry through central regions. Moderate east to northeasterly wind, fresh along the coast.Monday 21 MarchAreas of rain or showers. Isolated thunderstorms in the west. Cool to mild and humid with moderate to fresh northeast winds, tending southerly later in the far west.Tuesday 22 MarchRain areas, more isolated in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the north. Cool to mild and humid with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
