MELBOURNE - Mar 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system located well south of the Bight extends a ridge to Victoria. The high will drift eastwards and will pass south of Tasmania during Saturday and across the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday. A low pressure trough will cross South Australia on Sunday and become slow moving near western Victoria on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayMainly fine. Isolated showers in East Gippsland and the chance of light morning showers near the coast. Little if any rain over the northwest. Cloudy periods with moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Saturday 19 MarchIsolated showers in the east. Fine and mild to warm elsewhere and becoming mostly sunny across the west and north. Moderate east to southeasterly wind, freshening along the coast.Sunday 20 MarchCool to mild and cloudy in the east with isolated showers. Mild to warm elsewhere with patchy rain developing in the west. Mostly dry through central regions. Moderate east to northeasterly wind, fresh along the coast.Monday 21 MarchAreas of rain or showers, mainly in the west and far east.
