MELBOURNE - Mar 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system passing to the south of Victoria will move rapidly away to the east on Tuesday. A cold front will cross Tasmania on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with an associated trough expected to cross Victoria. A large high pressure system will be located well south of the Bight by Thursday and will extend a ridge to Victoria. The high will drift slowly eastwards during Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from isolated thundery showers over the northeast and far northwest. Moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 15 MarchIsolated showers, mainly over the north and east with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Generally warm inland with light variable winds, later tending southerly across western districts. Milder along the coastal fringe with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Wednesday 16 MarchIsolated showers on and south of the ranges and also in the far northeast. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south, but warmer north of the divide with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the far east. Fine elsewhere and mainly sunny over the north. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Friday 18 MarchFine apart from isolated coastal showers during the morning.
