MELBOURNE - Mar 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossed eastern Victoria last night. A small high pressure system will pass to the south of Victoria today before moving rapidly away to the east on Tuesday. A cold front will cross Tasmania and Bass Strait on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. A large high pressure system will be located well south of the Bight by Thursday and will extend a ridge to Victoria. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated morning showers near the west and central coasts. Scattered showers persisting in the east and isolated showers over the northern plains with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Mild in the south but warmer and humid in the north. Moderate south to southeasterly wind and fresh afternoon sea breezes.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Tuesday 15 MarchScattered showers in the northeast. Isolated showers over remaining eastern and northern areas. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms across the north and far east. Fine and mild in the southwest and central districts. Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Wednesday 16 MarchIsolated showers in the south and east. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly wind.Thursday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the far east. Fine elsewhere and becoming sunny over the northwest.
