MELBOURNE - Mar 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A stationary high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast, while a low pressure trough stretches from the northwest of the state to the south coast. The trough is expected to move northwards along the coast tonight and Friday before weakening. Another trough is forecast to moves across the state during the weekend as a cold front passes to the south. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly fine in the northeast, apart from some patchy rain about the tablelands. Rain areas elsewhere, easing in the far southwest. Isolated thunderstorms over the southern and western inland. Northwest to northeast winds, with a southerly change in the west and southeast.Friday 11 MarchScattered showers in the northwest and southeast. Isolated showers elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms, except in the northeast and southwest. Southerly winds in the west and southeast at first, otherwise east to northeast winds.Saturday 12 MarchIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the eastern half. The chance of showers in the southwest. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds.Sunday 13 MarchFine and partly cloudy in the northern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere, and the chance of thunderstorms across the south. East to northeast winds, turning south to southwesterly across the south.Monday 14 MarchFine and partly cloudy in the northern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered about the southern coast and ranges.
