Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 9/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over central Victoria will drift slowly eastwards and is expected to clear far eastern Victoria late Thursday. A high pressure system will move over Tasmania early Friday, reaching the south Tasman Sea by Saturday. A weakening cold front will move across Tasmania late on Saturday with an associated trough expected to enter southwest Victoria. The trough will cross the remainder of Victoria on Sunday as the next high crosses waters south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of rain over most districts, with isolated thunderstorms possible across the north and east. Drizzle patches over the southwest. Light to moderate northerly winds over eastern parts but cooler southerly winds over most of the south and west.Thursday 10 MarchAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting east. Local morning drizzle in remaining southern areas. Cool to mild with south to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Friday 11 MarchIsolated drizzle in the south. Isolated afternoon showers mostly on and north of the divide with the chance of thunderstorms over the northeast. Mild and humid with generally light winds inland and moderate to fresh easterlies developing along the coast.Saturday 12 MarchIsolated showers, mainly during the afternoon and the chance of thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Warm and generally sunny day with moderate northerly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Sunday 13 MarchIsolated showers in the east. Drizzle patches on and south of the ranges, contracting to the coast. Cool to mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with southerly winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
