MELBOURNE - Mar 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will drift across the Tasman Sea today. A low pressure trough will reach western Victoria late Tuesday, and will drift slowly eastwards across the State during Wednesday and Thursday. A high pressure system will move over Tasmania on Friday and settle in the Tasman Sea at night. Forecast for the rest of MondayModerate northerly winds and local coastal seabreezes easing. Isolated showers developing in the far west.Tuesday 8 MarchAreas of rain gradually extending from the west, but remaining dry in the far east. Local heavy falls possible over the west. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest. Generally mild to warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Wednesday 9 MarchAreas of rain over most districts. Isolated thunderstorms over the northwest with local heavy falls possible. Mild northerly winds, but cooler southwest to southerly winds developing from the west.Thursday 10 MarchAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting east with isolated showers to follow in the south. Cool to mild with south to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Friday 11 MarchIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to the east during the day.
