Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system north of New Zealand extends a ridge to southern Queensland, while a broad trough of low pressure stretches from central Australia through New South Wales to the Tasman Sea. The trough is expected to link with a cold front and move to the northeast today in response to an approaching upper-level system, with a ridge building across the state's south. This pattern then looks set to remain relatively unchanged through to the end of the week, when another high strengthens from the west before moving to the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers, tending scattered in the northeast in the afternoon, and clearing from the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms across the north and central east. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast, with a southerly change extending through the remainder, strong and gusty at times.
A Fire Weather Warning and Total Fire Ban for Severe Fire Danger in the Greater Hunter, Northern Slopes and North Western Fire Weather Areas.
Fire Danger -  Very High to Severe over parts of the northeast.Wednesday 2 MarchIsolated showers over the northern half, tending scattered in the northeast with possible thunderstorms. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to southwest winds, turning northeast along the coast later.Thursday 3 MarchIsolated showers over the northern half, tending scattered in the northeast with possible thunderstorms. The chance of showers on the south coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, with southeast to southwest winds elsewhere.Friday 4 MarchIsolated showers in the north and east, tending scattered on the north coast and the east of the Northern Tablelands.
