Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 26/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad trough of low pressure will persist over northern Victoria today and Monday. A low pressure system will develop off the NSW south coast today, then move east through the Tasman Sea on Monday. A high pressure system south of Western Australia on Monday will remain slow moving and extend a ridge across Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania early on Tuesday, with another front approaching Tasmania later on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPatchy rain, more widespread about the ranges, contracting eastwards during the day. Drizzle patches following the rain south of the ranges. The chance of thunderstorms over parts of the east and north. Cool to mild and cloudy in the south, a little warmer in the north. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Monday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to the east in the afternoon. Chance of an afternoon thunderstorm in the northeast.. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light to moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 1 MarchIsolated showers in southern and eastern areas, mostly during the morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly wind.Wednesday 2 MarchIsolated showers developing later near the southwest coast.
