MELBOURNE - Feb 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge over southern Victoria will weaken tonight. A trough of low pressure will move across northern Victoria on Saturday and Sunday. The next high pressure system will form south of Western Australia on Monday and will remain back over Bight waters on Tuesday while a weak cold front crosses Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible over the northwest and in the far east. Generally light winds.Saturday 26 FebruaryMostly cloudy. Isolated showers developing over the west during the morning then extending to central areas late in the day and the east at night. Mild to warm with generally light winds, tending southerly in the west.Fire Danger - Low to moderate although reaching high in East Gippsland.Sunday 27 FebruaryIsolated showers, more extensive about the ranges, contracting eastwards late in the day. The chance of thunderstorms over parts of the east and north. Cool to mild and cloudy in the south and a little warmer in the north. Mainly moderate south to southeasterly winds.Monday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to the east in the afternoon. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light to moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 1 MarchIsolated showers in southern and eastern areas, mostly during the morning.
