MELBOURNE - Feb 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system west of Bass Strait extends a ridge towards Victoria and will remain almost stationary during Wednesday and Thursday. The high will weaken during Friday as the ridge broadens into the Tasman Sea. The main high centre will be east of Tasmania by Saturday and will move east across the Tasman Sea as a cold front moves south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCloudy near the central and western coasts, mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 23 FebruaryMorning drizzle patches in the south, mainly near coast. Morning cloud in the south contracting to the coast in the afternoon. Otherwise a cool to mild and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Thursday 24 FebruaryMorning cloud in the south with possible morning drizzle about the central coast. Morning fog patches about the southern ranges. Otherwise a mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southerly winds, locally freshening about the coast.Friday 25 FebruaryMostly cloudy in the south. Cloud increasing in the north. Mild to warm with light to moderate southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast in the afternoon.Saturday 26 FebruaryMostly sunny.
