Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 20/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A vigorous cold front and upper trough is approaching southern New South Wales and will being a southwesterly change to the inland and a southerly change to the south and central coasts this evening and overnight, progressing to the north coast during Monday. A trough should remain over the northeast on Monday. A high in the Bight behind the front is expected to be slow-moving and remain west of Tasmania for most of the coming week bringing dry and mostly sunny conditions to most of the state.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in central and northern districts, contracting further northeast during the evening. Thunderstorms more scattered in the northwest. Scattered showers on the south coast later today or tonight. Fine in the southwest. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast, with a cooler southwest change extending through the remainder.Monday 21 FebruaryIsolated showers along the southern and central coast and adjacent ranges, contracting northwards. Showers or rain areas and possible thunderstorms over the northeast. Mostly fine and sunny over the remainder. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 FebruaryScattered showers along the northern coast and ranges. Isolated showers extending south to the Illawarra. East to southeast winds.Wednesday 23 FebruaryIsolated showers on the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Mostly east to southeast winds inland, south to southeast on the coast.Thursday 24 FebruaryIsolated showers on the north coast and far northern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds on the coast, mostly light and variable over the inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
