MELBOURNE - Feb 15/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough approaching from the west will move across Victoria on Thursday. A high pressure ridge will pass south of Victoria during Friday. Another low pressure trough will move over South Australia on Friday then deepen as it crosses southwestern Victoria and Bass Strait on Saturday. A cold front will then move from the Bight to cross Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayHumid. Scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms with localised flash flooding, mainly in western and central areas. Light to moderate northeast to easterly winds.Thursday 17 FebruaryIsolated showers, scattered in the east and possible thunderstorms. A mild to warm and humid day with light winds shifting moderate to fresh southwesterly from the west during the afternoon and evening.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Friday 18 FebruaryIsolated light showers in the south during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Areas of rain developing in the west during the afternoon and reaching central areas at night. Light to moderate northeast to southeast winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon and evening.Saturday 19 FebruaryAreas of rain easing to isolated showers from the west. Possible heavy falls in the southwest and in the northeast. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast. Moderate to fresh northerly winds tending westerly from the west.Sunday 20 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the east clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers elsewhere near and south of the divide.
